Having read about choosing the right school for your child you might want your child to enjoy the benefits of a Christian education.
The Sheffield Christian Free School will operate according to the principles outlined in this article. You may wish to visit an existing school and see how these things are worked out in practice. SCFS sites will be small and friendly and when full, have less than 100 pupils between the ages of 4 and 16. Some children will be drawn from families attending the many different churches in the city with others having no church connection. But, being part of such a close family network will provide children with the spiritual home they need. One characteristic of the Christian school is that it is a happy place to be; children enjoy school and experience the love of God in the classroom.

Classes are small and teachers are committed and well qualified both educationally and spiritually. Bethany School regularly achieves the highest grades for exam results at GCSE but that is not its primary focus. The school believes that when God is put first, quality is always excellent.

The SCFS will receive government funding. At present, Bethany School is supported mainly by voluntary contributions from our families and ‘Friends’. We give to a cause we support rather than paying fees for a private education. Also, parents give their time in a variety of practical ways around the school and one of our distinctive features is that we encourage a much closer partnership between home and school than is usual. The staff at Bethany School is committed to helping Christian parents fulfil their Biblical mandate to ‘Train up a child in the way he should go’. We want these qualities of sacrifice and service to be transferred to the SCFS.
